Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. This role ensures accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, and other cash instruments while maintaining proper records and performing end‑of‑day reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders, and other cash instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Maintain inward and outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, reconcile transactions, and prepare the End‑of‑Day Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and ensure safe custody of cash, keys, and valuables.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, and promote bank products and alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify accuracy of cash deposit slips.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and escalating issues.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and maintain accurate records.
