Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and ensuring accurate record‑keeping in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth operation of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments while delivering courteous customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and prepare the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash department with the Operations Officer and Assistant Branch Manager.
• Interact with customers, explain repayment schedules, promote new products, and guide them to alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, internal policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking or finance background preferred.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and adhere to strict compliance standards.
