BE Operator Cum Maintainer

About the role

The Backend (BE) Operator Cum Maintainer works on a shift team in Ball's manufacturing plant, handling input material, finished product, and packaging material. The role combines equipment operation with routine maintenance to ensure safe, high‑quality production of sustainable aluminium packaging.

Key responsibilities

• Operate LSM, Necker, Palletizer, Strappers, Wrappers and other backend equipment at rated speed while adhering to SOPs and safety standards.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, safe repairs, and set‑up checks on equipment.
• Carry out quality checks, report non‑conformities, and support accident investigations.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, SMED, 5S and ISO.
• Maintain housekeeping and hygiene standards in the work area.
• Assist in re‑working and re‑sampling of HFI pallets to keep production flow.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or ITI in any trade.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in production and maintenance within a high‑speed, high‑volume continuous process.
• Ability to work shifts and occasional extended hours.

Required skills

• Operation of LSM, Necker, Palletizer, Strappers and Wrappers.
• Computer literacy for generating reports and managing computerized data.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and use of measuring equipment.
• Health and safety work practices in an industrial environment.
