Bank Cashier – Branch Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. The role supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments, and by maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record entries in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, explain repayment dates, and promote cross‑selling of bank products.
• Educate customers on using alternate channels for deposits, withdrawals and inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with turnaround times, bank policies, and regulatory requirements for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and identify service opportunities.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping and reconciliation.
• Understanding of compliance and regulatory standards related to cash management.
