Backend Technical Lead

About the role

Paytm is India’s largest digital payments and financial services platform, powering millions of businesses and individuals. As a Backend Technical Lead you will design scalable architectures, coach engineers, and lead technology‑first projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable backend architectures supporting 100M+ daily active users.
• Optimize APIs to achieve sub‑50 ms latency and ensure high‑performance services.
• Leverage AI tools for architecture design, code reviews, prototyping, and boosting developer productivity.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of hands‑on backend engineering experience with Java and Node.js.
• Proven ownership of high‑scale distributed systems, including microservices, messaging, caching, and storage optimization.
• Strong architectural thinking for systems handling billions of transactions.
• AI‑first mindset, proficient with GPT and other AI coding tools.
• Leadership skills such as mentoring, code reviewing, and promoting engineering best practices.
