Automotive Designer – Vehicle Interior Design

About the role

Continental is seeking a talented Automotive Designer to join its design team in Pune. You will create compelling vehicle interior concepts that balance aesthetics, functionality, and manufacturability while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and conceptualize vehicle interior designs using advanced design tools.
• Manage design projects from concept through production readiness.
• Conduct market research and competitive analysis to guide design direction.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility and compliance.
• Create designs based on stakeholder feedback, design reviews, and performance testing.
• Ensure all designs adhere to company design guidelines.
• Prepare and present design concepts to leadership using renderings and prototypes.
• Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices.
• Participate in workshops and brainstorming sessions to generate innovative surface solutions (color, grain, gloss, haptic).
• Document design decisions and maintain organized project records.

Required profile

• 1‑2 years of professional experience in automotive or related design disciplines.
• Experience in textile or product design, color measurement, and validation.
• Project‑management skills.
• Solid understanding of automotive design principles, vehicle dynamics, and standards.
• Knowledge of design software and rendering tools for visualization.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience with design‑thinking and prototyping methodologies.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in English; basic German is a plus.
