Associate Structural Engineer

About the role

AECOM is looking for an Associate – Structure to lead and deliver structural engineering projects in Mumbai. The role involves managing design teams, coordinating multidisciplinary efforts, and ensuring compliance with Indian and international codes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction, planning and completion of engineering projects while managing client expectations.
• Lead, mentor and develop structural engineers, BIM modelers and project teams.
• Perform analysis and design of structural systems for various building types in accordance with applicable codes.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications and BIM models for accuracy, constructability and quality.
• Coordinate with architectural, civil, geotechnical, MEP and construction teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies and resolve technical issues.
• Support business development through proposal preparation, effort estimation and client presentations.

Required profile

• 12–15 years of experience in structural engineering consultancy on complex projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in Structural Engineering (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of Indian Codes; familiarity with US, British and Eurocodes is a plus.
• Experience across commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, hospitality, industrial, aviation and data‑centre sectors is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience with BIM workflows, model review, clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Knowledge of RCC, PT and structural steel analysis, design and detailing.
• Familiarity with programming/automation tools such as Python, Dynamo, Rhino and Grasshopper.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
