Associate - Retail

About the role

Bain & Company is looking for a motivated Associate to join its Retail Center of Expertise. You will work on data‑driven projects for retail clients across categories such as grocery, apparel, general merchandise and e‑commerce, helping them solve strategic questions around pricing, promotion, space and customer analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver analytical solutions for retail clients, owning complex workstreams with guidance from senior team members.
• Translate client requirements into actionable tasks and manage a small team of analysts.
• Perform high‑quality data analysis, conduct reality checks and ensure error‑free deliverables.
• Generate insights, formulate hypotheses and propose actionable recommendations.
• Lead focused meetings and communicate findings clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to break down business problems.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
• Interest in retail industry trends and consulting work.

Required skills

• Tableau or Power BI for data visualisation.
• Alteryx or KNIME for data preparation.
• SQL for database querying.
• Python or R for statistical analysis.
• Advanced Excel for modelling and reporting.
• PowerPoint for presenting insights.
