Associate Manager – Credit Model Validation

About the role

The Associate Manager will join the Credit Model Validation and Insights (CMVI) team at ANZ to validate a broad range of credit risk models for both wholesale and retail portfolios. You will help shape validation methodologies, improve automation, and support governance activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct BAU periodic validations of Wholesale and Retail ECL and Stress Testing models.
• Review and validate model changes and new model development.
• Engage with model developers and users to communicate findings, agree on actions, and track resolutions.
• Drive automation initiatives and continuously improve validation frameworks and processes.
• Provide support for audit reviews and related governance activities.

Required profile

• Proficiency in at least one quantitative programming language such as R, Python or SAS.
• Strong data manipulation and management skills, including SQL and experience with databases like BigQuery, Oracle or SQL Server.
• Experience building or validating credit risk models (e.g., Basel capital, IFRS9/ECL, scorecards, stress testing, climate risk).
• Knowledge of Basel regulatory framework and capital model components (PD, LGD, EAD).
• Understanding of wholesale (non‑retail) and retail model portfolios.
• Post‑graduate qualification in statistics, econometrics, mathematics, data science, machine learning or a related quantitative field.
