Associate Director – PHE & Fire

About the role

The Associate Director – PHE & Fire will define sector strategy for high‑rise, data‑center, healthcare and commercial projects, aligning capability road‑maps with enterprise goals and market demand. The role leads design‑excellence programs, approves high‑risk fire‑protection designs and drives digital delivery through model‑based quality assurance.

Key responsibilities

• Define sector strategy (high‑rise, data centre, healthcare/commercial) and capability roadmap aligned with enterprise goals.
• Lead design‑excellence programs including audits, KPIs, benchmarks and lessons learned to reduce rework.
• Approve high‑risk designs such as complex pump rooms, large tanks and special‑hazard fire systems (water mist, foam, clean agent) and sign off redundancy topologies.
• Drive digital delivery and automation using model‑based QA, rule‑based checks and calculation libraries, championing interdisciplinary integration.
• Represent AECOM at industry bodies, standards committees and conferences, publishing thought‑leadership and technical white papers.
• Cultivate executive client relationships and oversee strategic bids and negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• 15–18+ years of experience with recognized subject‑matter expertise in PHE & Fire across one or more sectors.
• Proven ability in strategy development, governance and client leadership with authoritative command of codes and standards.

Required skills

• Model‑based quality assurance and rule‑based validation.
• Digital automation tools for calculation libraries and model federation.
