Associate Data Scientist

About the role

Metyis is growing and seeks an Associate Data Scientist with 3‑7 years of experience to join its Data and Analytics team in Gurgaon. The role involves delivering data‑driven solutions for clients across various industries, leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning and generative AI.

Key responsibilities

• Own live forecasting and optimisation models, keeping them accurate and adapting them as constraints and business rules change.
• Scope and develop new data‑science projects end‑to‑end, from problem framing to deployment.
• Apply machine learning and generative AI to extend solutions where they add value.
• Answer client business questions using data and scenario analyses and provide clear recommendations.
• Present results to client stakeholders, including senior management.
• Work with data and engineering teams on data quality, deployment and cloud performance.
• Guide junior colleagues and review their work.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional experience in data science or advanced analytics, delivering projects for business stakeholders.
• Business acumen to connect model outputs to processes such as cost, service, inventory and delivery, and communicate insights in English.
• Strong Python (pandas, scikit‑learn), SQL and Git skills, with ability to debug and improve code.
• Solid understanding of optimisation concepts and experience configuring optimisation tools.
• Working knowledge of supply‑chain topics such as demand forecasting, inventory, replenishment and related KPIs.
• Experience running data and ML workloads on Azure, AWS or GCP, preferably with Databricks or Spark.
• Hands‑on experience building and deploying models (gradient boosting, time‑series) using scikit‑learn, XGBoost or LightGBM, including evaluation and drift monitoring.
• Practical exposure to generative AI and sense of where it adds business value.
• Degree in a quantitative field such as engineering, statistics, computer science or operations research.
