Assistant/Associate Professor – Interdisciplinary Research

About the role

Chandigarh University is seeking Assistant and Associate Professors to lead interdisciplinary research across liberal arts, humanities and social sciences. The position is based at the Mohali (Gharuan) campus and focuses on developing high‑impact research programmes that address societal challenges and Sustainable Development Goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and manage interdisciplinary research projects and programmes.
• Publish 8–10 peer‑reviewed papers in Scopus or Web of Science indexed journals per year.
• Prepare and submit competitive proposals to national and international funding agencies.
• Secure 1–2 externally funded research projects during the appointment.
• Establish at least two collaborations with academic, industry, government or societal partners.
• Produce societal‑impact studies, policy briefs or evidence‑based reports.
• Mentor PhD, postgraduate and undergraduate students.
• Contribute to curriculum development, seminars, conferences and knowledge‑exchange activities.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline within liberal arts, humanities or social sciences.
• Strong academic record with publications in indexed journals.
• Demonstrated experience in research proposal writing and securing funding.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
• Research interests aligned with SDGs, public policy, behavioural sciences, digital society, ethics of AI, gender studies, social innovation or related emerging areas.
