Assistant Vice President – Utilities & Material Handling

About the role

Tata Projects is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as Discipline Lead for Utilities and Material Handling at corporate level. The role oversees engineering, design and coordination of critical mechanical systems across semiconductor, power and metal EPC projects, ensuring performance, safety, regulatory compliance and sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering and design of HVAC, cleanroom, water treatment, compressed clean dry air (CDA), process vacuum, process exhaust, firefighting, fuel supply, heat exchangers, pumps, material handling, tanks and elevators.
• Establish SOPs, design standards and package‑wise guidelines to streamline deliverables.
• Conduct design reviews, value engineering, constructability assessments and 3D model validations.
• Manage safety audits, quality reviews and site mock‑up validations with clients and consultants.
• Define execution strategies, drive standardisation and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers and modelers.
• Coordinate with internal functions (process, civil, electrical, piping, ELV, I&C, procurement, planning) and external stakeholders (clients, consultants, vendors).
• Analyse project risks, monitor engineering performance and implement mitigation plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering within large‑scale EPC or industrial projects.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and delivering complex utility systems.
• Strong understanding of regulatory, safety and sustainability standards for industrial facilities.
