Assistant Professor – Agronomy (Coimbatore)

About the role

The Department of Agronomy is seeking an Assistant Professor to join its faculty in Coimbatore. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, guiding research projects, and contributing to the department’s scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Agronomy and related subjects.
• Provide research supervision and mentorship to graduate students.
• Carry out high‑quality research in agricultural sciences with a focus on agronomy.
• Publish research findings in reputable peer‑reviewed journals.
• Develop and submit research proposals to obtain external funding from government agencies, industry, and other organisations.
• Execute externally funded projects and foster interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Participate in academic, extension, and institutional activities, including student research guidance.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Agronomy or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach and mentor students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Strong record of research publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Experience in preparing and securing research grants.
• Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations and extension activities.
