Assistant Materials Manager – Hotel Procurement

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Materials Manager to support procurement activities for our new hotel, Gateway Udupi, Manipal. You will work closely with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure timely and cost‑effective sourcing of food, beverage, and other hotel supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate with selected suppliers and obtain quotations for daily food and beverage purchases.
• Coordinate site visits with contractors and end‑users to gather necessary quotations.
• Maintain frequent contact with suppliers to stay updated on market and product information.
• Identify reliable suppliers, attend food tasting panels, and participate in vendor selection.
• Conduct vendor site audits alongside the Microbiologist and Chef.
• Prepare and negotiate contracts, place orders, and expedite deliveries.
• Prepare tender invitations, manage tender openings, and compare bids for procurement decisions.
• Source alternative products with competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
• Prepare monthly cost‑saving reports for the Financial Controller.

Required profile

• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Attention to detail in contract preparation and tender processes.
• Experience in food and beverage procurement within a hospitality environment is preferred.
