Assistant Manager – Projects & Automation Control

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Projects & Automation & Control – South Asia will be responsible for supporting and executing capital projects, automation initiatives, machine integration, and engineering improvement projects across the manufacturing facility. The role works closely with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, IT/OT, Procurement, Finance and external vendors across India locations to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within approved budget and to company engineering and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support end‑to‑end execution of capital and engineering projects from concept through commissioning and project closure, including brownfield upgrades and greenfield plant infrastructure.
• Lead automation and machine‑control projects involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, drives, sensors and industrial communication systems; develop I/O lists, control philosophies and sequence logic.
• Integrate new equipment into existing manufacturing lines, define interface requirements, coordinate FAT/SAT activities and ensure safe handover to Operations and Maintenance.
• Prepare CAPEX estimates, project proposals, RFP/RFQ documents, evaluate vendor quotations and track project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Develop and review machine, equipment and plant layouts using AutoCAD, ensuring productivity, ergonomics, safety and future expansion.
• Ensure project activities comply with EHS standards, conduct risk assessments, HIRA, FMEA and support audit preparation.
• Coordinate with IT/OT and cybersecurity teams to implement corporate cybersecurity requirements for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and related software.
• Manage vendors and contractors, monitor performance on safety, quality, schedule and technical deliverables, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
