Assistant Manager, Operations

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Operations (Post‑Fixture) will oversee the full lifecycle of vessel operations after a fixture is confirmed. This strategic leader will manage a team, optimise voyage P&L, and ensure strict compliance with Charter Party terms while acting as the primary contact for complex disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Enter and maintain all fixture data in IMOS with 100% accuracy for financial reporting and voyage tracking.
• Monitor vessel schedules, off‑hire events and coordinate workflow improvements with IT, Operations, Commercial and Finance teams.
• Manage end‑to‑end post‑fixture activities for time charter and voyage charter contracts, including issuance of hire/freight invoices and AR collection.
• Send delivery, redelivery and arrival notices in line with Charter Party requirements.
• Supervise complex laytime/demurrage calculations and lead negotiations for final settlements.
• Review vendor invoices, Proforma Disbursement Accounts (PDA) and Final Disbursement Accounts (FDA) to maximise voyage earnings.
• Liaise with brokers, charterers, owners, agents and vendors to arrange timely charter hires, SOAs and invoice processing.
• Track and report voyage results, deviations and resource utilisation to management.
• Create and update vendor details in MDG, conduct sanction checks and maintain accurate voyage documentation in SharePoint.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of direct post‑fixture experience in the shipping industry.
• Strong knowledge of maritime law, Charter Party clauses and international shipping regulations.
• Proven ability to negotiate, analyse data and communicate with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced, hands‑on experience with IMOS (Veson Nautical).
• Familiarity with other shipping platforms such as Shipnet and Diabos.
• Experience using MDG for vendor management.
• Proficiency with SharePoint for document filing.
