Assistant Manager – BIM (Mechanical)

About the role

AECOM India is looking for a dynamic Mechanical BIM Specialist to join its Chennai office. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality BIM models and documentation for complex mechanical engineering projects across multiple sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and coordinate detailed 3D BIM models for HVAC, piping, mechanical equipment and related systems.
• Produce construction documentation – plans, sections, elevations, schedules and detailed drawings – directly from Revit models.
• Generate BOQs and material take‑offs, and prepare coordinated production drawings in line with BIM Execution Plans and company standards.
• Manage drawing sets, revisions, mark‑ups and document control, delivering outputs in PDF, DWG and hard‑copy formats.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary models, perform model federation, geo‑location and clash detection using Navisworks.
• Conduct BIM reviews, quality checks, model audits and lead coordination workshops.
• Support BIM standards, workflows and best‑practice implementation, and create visualisations and presentation material as required.

Required profile

• Diploma, B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of BIM modeling experience in Mechanical Building Services.
• Proven experience on large‑scale projects such as data centres, healthcare, aviation, semiconductor or advanced manufacturing facilities.
• Strong knowledge of BIM coordination, clash detection, BIM standards and model management.
• Ability to produce quantity take‑offs, schedules and BIM‑generated documentation.
• Excellent communication, coordination and problem‑solving skills within multidisciplinary teams.
