Assistant Engineer Maintenance Mechanical

About the role

The Assistant Engineer Maintenance Mechanical will support the upkeep of heavy engineering equipment in a continuous process environment, primarily within the cement industry. The role involves supervising a team, planning maintenance activities and ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of fitters, contract workers, outsourced personnel and AMC staff.
• Generate maintenance reports in line with group standards.
• Plan maintenance schedules, manpower allocation and spare‑parts inventory.
• Manage performance of subordinates through target setting, appraisals and feedback.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a continuous process industry, preferably cement.
• Hands‑on experience with heavy equipment such as crushers, ball mills, rotary dryers and material‑handling systems.

Required skills

• Operation and maintenance of crushers, ball mills, FEL, hammer mills and rotary dryers.
• Experience with air compressors (screw), centrifugal and positive‑displacement pumps.
• Familiarity with material‑handling equipment: fork lifts, loaders, belt and roller conveyors, screw conveyors and elevators.
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, hot‑air generators, oil burners, thermic fluid heaters, dryers, heat exchangers and chilling systems.
• Understanding of pollution‑control equipment such as pulse‑jet dust collectors.
