Assistant Editor - Nursing

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Editor specialized in nursing to manage manuscripts from submission through final decision. Working in a hybrid model from Pune or Noida, you will act as a bridge between authors, reviewers, and our editorial teams, ensuring a rigorous and efficient peer‑review process for Wiley’s scientific journals.

Key responsibilities

• Screen new submissions for scope, scientific quality, originality and research integrity.
• Make initial editorial decisions and provide clear rationales aligned with journal policies.
• Select, invite and manage peer reviewers to secure timely, high‑quality reviews.
• Evaluate reviewer reports and decide on acceptance, revision, rejection or referral.
• Assess revised manuscripts and author responses to determine next steps.
• Recommend alternative journals within the Wiley portfolio when appropriate.
• Commission articles, special issues and invited content that fit the journal’s strategy.
• Track invited‑content pipelines and maintain contributor communications.
• Analyze editorial performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with senior editors and participate in training on editorial systems.

Required profile

• MSc, PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
• Hands‑on clinical experience as a nurse (preferred).
• Research experience in nursing practice, clinical nursing, nursing education, patient‑centered care, advanced practice nursing, evidence‑based practice, public health or related fields.
• Experience with scholarly publishing or peer review as an author, reviewer or editor.
