AI Software Development Engineer

About the role

Airtel Payments Bank is building an AI‑driven platform to boost developer productivity and solve business problems with large language models. As an AI Software Development Engineer you will design, build, and operate AI agents, retrieval‑augmented generation pipelines, and contextual LLM solutions for the bank’s digital services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI assistants (similar to Amazon Q, Claude, GitHub Copilot) to increase developer efficiency.
• Design, implement, and manage end‑to‑end AI platforms for building, deploying, and monitoring AI agents.
• Create and maintain knowledge bases, repositories, and contextual LLM workflows for banking use‑cases.
• Build Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases.
• Write, test, and optimise prompts to ensure deterministic and secure LLM outputs.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of hands‑on backend development experience.
• Proficiency in at least one core language (Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or BI tools) with willingness to switch languages as needed.
• Experience with AI orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or Strands.
• Practical knowledge of vector stores (Pinecone, ChromaDB, Milvus, Qdrant, pgvector) for RAG pipelines.
• Demonstrated ability in prompt engineering and AI security/compliance practices.
