AI Engineering Manager

About the role

Five9 is a leading cloud contact‑center software provider. The Enterprise‑AI team drives internal AI adoption, turning emerging capabilities into real business outcomes. As AI Engineering Manager you will lead the AI Automation and AI Platform engineers, spending at least 30% of your time building solutions with Claude while providing people leadership and delivery oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop AI Automation and AI Platform engineers; manage performance and career growth.
• Spend 30%+ of time hands‑on building, reviewing and shipping Claude‑based solutions, APIs and tooling.
• Drive technical excellence, code‑review standards and best practices for Claude development.
• Partner with program managers and business stakeholders to plan road‑maps and balance short‑term delivery with long‑term technical health.
• Collaborate with solutions architects, security, platform and other engineering teams to ensure integration, security and responsible‑AI compliance.
• Coach the team, unblock complex technical problems and stay current on Claude and AI‑augmented engineering trends.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of software or AI engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role with a proven record of shipping production work.
• Hands‑on proficiency with Claude (Claude Code, Claude API, agent tooling) and a cloud‑native delivery mindset.

Required skills

• Claude development (Claude Code, Claude API, agent tooling).
• Google Cloud services and cloud‑native fundamentals (Git, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud deployment).
• Infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform), containers/orchestration, and MLOps/LLMOps basics (model serving, versioning, evaluation).
• Integration patterns, APIs and data‑management practices for cloud‑deployed systems.
