AI Architect (Staff)

About the role

The AI Solutions Org at Flipkart is building a high‑velocity “SWAT” team to accelerate AI adoption across the company. As a Staff AI Architect you will lead ambiguous, cross‑functional AI charters, shaping end‑to‑end solutions where goals evolve through collaboration with Data Science, Engineering and Product.

Key responsibilities

• Own and drive cross‑functional AI initiatives, negotiating goals and success criteria across teams.
• Set technical direction and make architectural decisions that guide multiple teams.
• Design platform‑level evaluation strategies to monitor AI system performance, ownership of metrics, and detection of silent degradation.
• Coordinate DS, Engineering and Product without bias, creating resolution processes when teams disagree on root causes.
• Establish technical standards through design reviews, evaluation criteria and architecture patterns.
• Make defensible decisions under uncertainty, define fast‑path investigations and own outcomes.
• Curate AI research, select techniques worth prototyping, and communicate rationale.
• Identify where AI adds genuine leverage and push back when simpler solutions are more appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience owning end‑to‑end AI charters that required iterative goal definition and success measurement.
• Demonstrated ability to pivot a charter after a direction failure and articulate systemic causes.
• Strong cross‑functional judgment, able to design and lead resolution processes among DS, Engineering and Product.
• Experience setting technical bar for an organization through design reviews and architecture patterns.
