Academic Dean

About the role

The Academic Dean leads all academic, curricular and regulatory functions at an autonomous engineering college in Karnataka. Reporting to the Principal/Director, the Dean ensures academic excellence, compliance with UGC, AICTE and VTU guidelines, and drives accreditation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain academic calendars, schedules and policies for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Lead curriculum design, modification and implementation, including Choice Based Credit Systems (CBCS) and Outcomes‑Based Education (OBE).
• Coordinate NBA and NAAC accreditation preparations, conduct academic audits and quality assurance activities.
• Supervise departmental operations, monitor teacher lesson plans, attendance and regulatory adherence.
• Oversee Continuous Internal Evaluations (CIE), Semester End Examinations (SEE) and result analysis.
• Act as liaison with AICTE, UGC and VTU for regulatory compliance.
• Manage student performance tracking, academic counselling and resolution of academic grievances.
• Support faculty development, research initiatives and high teaching standards.
• Provide regular academic progress reports to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Educational qualification: B.E., M.Tech. or Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or Electronics & Communication.
• Minimum five years of experience as a Professor, with at least five years serving as Dean‑Academics or an equivalent senior academic leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, accreditation processes and regulatory liaison.
