Wiper – Engine Department on Container Vessel

About the role

Maersk is seeking a competent Wiper to join the engine department of its advanced container vessels. The role offers hands‑on experience with a variety of engine‑room machinery and the opportunity to develop technical skills in a global shipping environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain engine‑room tools.
• Perform functional operation and repairs of various machinery and pumps.
• Apply technical terminology and procedures specific to the engine room.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months sea service on foreign‑going ships.
• Working knowledge of spoken English.
• Basic understanding of ISM, ISPS and related security duties.
• Familiarity with personal protective equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures (fire, abandon ship, man overboard, oil spill).
• Certificates compliant with STCW 2010 Manila amendments.
• At least 12 months experience as a welder in a shipyard or relevant welding industry.
