Welding Engineer / Application Engineer

About the role

The company is seeking a qualified Welding Engineer / Application Engineer to support its heavy‑fabrication projects. The role involves ensuring welding quality, compliance with standards, and providing technical guidance to the fabrication team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain welding procedures (WPS) and qualification records (WPQR).
• Interpret RT and X‑ray inspection results and manage welding‑related NCRs.
• Lead welder qualification and certification programs according to customer requirements.
• Prepare welding documentation, including quality assurance plans, process flow charts, control plans, and bill of materials.
• Select appropriate welding consumables and oversee post‑weld heat treatment and stress‑relieving processes.
• Conduct welding audits, create weld maps and sequencing plans, and ensure compliance with EN, ISO, AWS, ASME, API 1104 and other relevant standards.

Required profile

• Certified Welding Engineer or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with CSWIP certification.
• NDT Level II certification.
• Experience in heavy‑fabrication, tank or pressure‑vessel environments is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with customers and internal teams.

Required skills

• CWI and CSWIP certification
• NDT Level II (RT/X‑ray)
• Knowledge of EN, ISO, AWS, ASME welding standards (including API 1104)
• Proficiency with GMAW, SMAW, MMAW, SAW processes
• Sheet‑metal fabrication and product development
• Selection of welding consumables for carbon steel, mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium
• Post‑weld heat treatment and stress‑relieving techniques
• Preparation of WPS, WPQR, ITP, weld maps and sequencing plans
