Welder/Fitter – Fixed Term Contract

About the role

Arabelle Solutions is seeking an experienced Welder/Fitter to work in its fabrication shop. The role combines metal fitting, assembly and a range of welding processes to produce high‑quality components for turbines, generators and pressure vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine fitting and welding requirements.
• Assemble, align, grind and adjust metal parts, ensuring precise fit and finish.
• Mark, measure and cut materials accurately using hand tools, power tools and gas‑cutting equipment.
• Perform welding operations (TIG, MIG, SMAW, SAW, submerged arc) on components up to 40 mm thickness, including groove, T‑joint, knuckle, corner and butt welds.
• Prepare workpieces for welding, position parts correctly and follow welding procedures (WPS, PQR, WPQ).
• Maintain strict safety and EHS standards on the shop floor, reporting any risks immediately.

Required profile

• ITI fitter or diploma in a related technical field; apprenticeship or formal training preferred.
• 5–8 years of proven experience in heavy fabrication or pressure‑vessel fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Qualified in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and SAW welding processes.
• Understanding of welding documentation (WPS, PQR, WPQ, weld book).
