Web App Developer – Build Databricks‑Native Applications

About the role

Our Enterprise Data team is creating a Databricks‑native data platform that powers master data management, AI‑driven data quality, and lineage across global regions. As a mid‑level Web App Developer you will design, build, and operate the front‑end and API layer of internal tools, delivering polished, production‑grade web applications that run as Databricks Apps.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop React + FastAPI web applications deployed as Databricks Apps, using the Databricks SDK for authentication.
• Create data‑stewardship UIs such as review queues, confidence visualisations, and approval/rejection flows.
• Build interactive dashboards that surface data lineage, quality scores, and pipeline health metrics from Unity Catalog.
• Implement REST APIs with FastAPI, integrating Databricks SQL Connector, Delta tables, and AI model‑serving endpoints.
• Integrate front‑end components with Unity Catalog via SDK and REST APIs for table discovery, access control, and lineage graphs.
• Author and maintain Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) for CI/CD across DEV, INT, UAT, and PROD environments.
• Collaborate with platform engineers to ensure apps are stateless, containerised, and scalable within the Databricks workspace.
• Write unit and integration tests, maintaining >80% coverage on critical paths.
• Participate in design reviews, PR reviews, and architecture discussions with globally distributed teams.
• Produce clear technical documentation – API contracts, component libraries, and deployment runbooks.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional experience building web applications in a TypeScript/React environment.
• Proven ability to work with data engineers, platform architects, and business stakeholders on complex data workflows.
• Experience delivering production‑grade applications in a fast‑moving, globally distributed team.

Required skills

• TypeScript, React (hooks, component composition), state management (Redux Toolkit or Zustand), Vite/ESBuild.
• Python, FastAPI (or Flask), REST API design, async handlers, dependency injection.
• OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
• Databricks SDK authentication, Databricks Apps, Unity Catalog integration.
• Databricks SQL Connector, Delta tables, AI model‑serving endpoints.
• CI/CD with Databricks Asset Bundles, containerisation, stateless architecture.
• Unit and integration testing frameworks, test coverage >80%.
• TypeScript typing discipline and accessibility best practices.
