Waking Night Support Worker – Residential Care

About the role

Mary Rush Care is seeking a compassionate and reliable Waking Night Support Worker to join our residential care team. You will provide person‑centred overnight support to adults with a range of care needs, ensuring their safety, dignity and independence throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out wellbeing checks, reassurance and personal‑care assistance in line with individual care plans.
• Monitor and accurately record observations such as sleep patterns, incidents and health concerns, escalating risks as needed.
• Administer and document medication where required, following all policies and training.
• Maintain a safe, calm environment by performing health‑and‑safety checks, following safeguarding procedures and managing incidents.
• Support bedtime and morning routines, including mobility, hydration and nutrition.
• Provide clear handovers and accurate documentation for day‑staff.
• Uphold privacy, dignity, choice and independence, promoting a person‑led approach.
• Perform light housekeeping to meet cleanliness and infection‑control standards.

Required profile

• Empathetic, patient and dependable with a calm approach to unexpected situations.
• Ability to stay awake, focused and conduct regular checks throughout the shift.
• Strong communication and record‑keeping abilities with attention to detail.
• Comfortable delivering personal care to individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, physical disabilities or dementia.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, infection control and professional boundaries.
• Team player who can also work independently and make sound overnight judgments.
