VP - Legal & Company Secretary

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is seeking a Vice President to lead its Legal and Company Secretary function. The role provides strategic legal counsel across corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters for a global financial institution.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver strategic legal advice on corporate structure, transactions, governance, intellectual property, contracts and antitrust issues.
• Manage legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and documentation.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Ensure compliance with banking regulations, environmental law and corporate sustainability requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align legal strategy with business objectives.

Required profile

• Law degree (JD, LLM or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
• Active bar membership or equivalent licence to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Proven experience providing strategic legal advice in a large financial services firm, investment bank or comparable law firm.
• Experience in corporate governance and managing legal aspects of M&A.
• Strong analytical, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
