Volunteer Accountant – India (Overseas)

About the role

A women‑led grassroots charity in southern India is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen its accounting systems, reporting, budgeting and finance team confidence. This hands‑on role supports a programme focused on empowerment, health advocacy, childcare, education and residential care for children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Key responsibilities

• Review current finance processes and assess the use of accounting software.
• Support budgeting and cash‑flow tools for the organisation.
• Introduce simple monthly management accounts.
• Improve donor reporting and prepare financial statements as needed.
• Mentor and train the local finance team.

Required profile

• Experience in accounting, preferably with NGOs or grassroots organisations.
• Comfortable working in low‑resource environments and willing to volunteer abroad.
• Hands‑on, supportive attitude with strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills.
• Budgeting and cash‑flow management.
• Preparation of management accounts and donor reports.
