VMC Operator

About the role

The VMC Operator will run and monitor Vertical Machining Centers to produce precision automotive components. Responsibilities include machine setup, loading and unloading parts, adjusting machining parameters, and ensuring that all output meets quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up VMC machines, select and change tools, and load/unload workpieces.
• Enter, verify, and adjust CNC program parameters as required.
• Inspect machined parts using vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges and bore gauges to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Document production results and report any equipment issues.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with supervisors and quality teams to resolve machining problems.

Required profile

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets and work instructions.
• Hands‑on experience operating VMC machines, including setup and basic program adjustments.
• Knowledge of CNC machining principles, cutting parameters and tool‑life management.
• Understanding of safety practices in a machine‑shop environment.
• Prior experience in automotive or precision component manufacturing is a plus.
• Willingness to work in shifts, stand for extended periods and follow production procedures.
