Unit HR Head – HR & Industrial Relations Lead

About the role

The Unit HR Head leads human resources and industrial relations functions at a brewery level, ensuring smooth operations through effective engagement with employees and statutory bodies. Reporting to the Zonal Head HR, this role combines recruitment, performance management, compliance, safety and CSR activities to support the plant’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage recruitment and staffing for the brewery, optimizing cost and coordinating with head office.
• Conduct inductions for freshers and lateral hires.
• Prepare timely reports and presentations for management.
• Oversee performance appraisal cycles, ensuring goal setting and annual reviews are completed on schedule.
• Ensure strict compliance with labour laws, statutory regulations and internal policies, maintaining a zero‑incident compliance record.
• Liaise with labour offices, factory inspectors, PF department, labour welfare boards, municipal authorities and police.
• Facilitate monthly meetings with employee representatives to maintain harmonious industrial relations.
• Resolve grievances and negotiate wage settlements, contracts for labour, canteen, housekeeping, and ETP.
• Participate in safety initiatives aiming for zero workplace incidents.
• Lead corporate social responsibility activities at the brewery.
• Drive productivity enhancement projects in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
• Prepare and control the personnel budget, variable costs and related financials.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR and industrial relations within a manufacturing or brewery environment.
• Strong knowledge of labour legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee relations.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control and HR financial administration.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interaction with statutory bodies and employee representatives.
