Transplant Nurse

About the role

The Transplant Nurse provides specialised nursing care to patients undergoing organ transplantation at KIMS Hospitals in Visakhapatnam. The role spans pre‑operative preparation, intra‑operative support and post‑operative recovery, ensuring safe and effective transplant outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs and perform continuous assessments of transplant patients.
• Administer prescribed medications and manage infusion therapies.
• Assist surgeons and critical‑care teams during transplant procedures.
• Coordinate care plans with physicians, surgeons, and allied health professionals.
• Educate patients and families on post‑transplant medication, lifestyle, and follow‑up protocols.
• Maintain strict infection‑control practices and adhere to safety standards.
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans in accordance with hospital policies.

Required profile

• Registered nursing qualification (GNM, B.Sc Nursing or equivalent) with valid registration.
• Experience in transplant units, ICU or high‑dependency settings is highly desirable.
• Strong clinical foundation in medical‑surgical nursing and critical‑care principles.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to work a hybrid schedule based in Visakhapatnam.
