Team Lead – GIS Mapping & OpenStreetMap

About the role

Wipro is seeking an experienced Team Lead to drive GIS mapping projects using OpenStreetMap and related tools. You will manage a team of operators, ensure high‑quality deliverables, and act as the primary liaison between the client and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Wipro and client stakeholders to meet project timelines and quality standards.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on GIS workflows, OSM, and related editing tools.
• Allocate daily tasks, monitor performance, and report progress against SLAs.
• Oversee map editing, road network creation, POI mapping, geometry correction, and spatial data validation.
• Identify and implement process improvements, escalation handling, and governance compliance.
• Maintain domain expertise and provide training to team members.

Required profile

• Graduation or higher degree.
• 4+ years of experience in GIS mapping, with 1.5‑2 years in a team‑lead role.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• OpenStreetMap (OSM) knowledge.
• Experience with JOSM, iD editor, and OSMCHA.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS and QGIS.
• Advanced MS Excel and reporting dashboard creation.
• Data‑driven decision‑making and performance tracking.
