Team Lead – Design Engineering

About the role

The Team Lead – Design Engineering will head a group of 5‑10 engineers responsible for the design, modification and sustainment of connectors and cable assemblies within the Datacom & Specialty Solutions portfolio. You will guide projects from concept through volume production, ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead new product design, modification and sustainment projects from concept to high‑volume manufacturing.
• Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to develop processes using 3D CAD, design‑for‑manufacturing practices and quality tools.
• Provide technical support to customers, suppliers and marketing stakeholders.
• Collaborate with global sourcing, vendors and project management to bring products into production.
• Perform verification activities to confirm designs meet specifications, regulatory and environmental test requirements.
• Review engineering, manufacturing and sales drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 10 years of experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading product design teams.
• Hands‑on experience with connector and cable assemblies for interconnect applications.
• Proven ability to manage electromechanical assemblies, including plastic, die‑cast and sheet‑metal components.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, problem‑solving skills and English communication proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency in 3D CAD and solid‑modeling software (e.g., Siemens NX).
• Experience with PLM/PDM systems and Material Master/BOM loading tools.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and failure analysis capabilities.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFMEA, tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Design of plastic, die‑cast, sheet‑metal and machined components.
