System Administrator – Linux Desktop Support

About the role

Foodhub is looking for a proactive System Administrator to join its growing IT team. You will provide Level‑1 support for Linux desktop environments, ensuring smooth operation for internal users and contributing to the reliability of the company’s technology stack.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level‑1 support for Linux desktop systems (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL).
• Troubleshoot and resolve OS‑level, application, network, hardware, and peripheral issues.
• Perform OS upgrades, security patching, kernel updates, and software installations.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, groups, and access controls.
• Support employee onboarding, system configuration, and access provisioning.
• Diagnose hardware problems and coordinate vendor repairs or replacements.
• Monitor system performance, logs, and health to minimise downtime.
• Assist in IT projects, system migrations, and infrastructure roll‑outs.
• Collaborate with network, security, and other IT teams to resolve cross‑functional issues.
• Automate repetitive tasks using shell scripting or Ansible.
• Install, configure, and maintain open‑source tools and utilities.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs, asset records, and system configurations.
• Ensure adherence to security best practices and organisational IT policies.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of experience in Linux administration or desktop support.
• Strong hands‑on troubleshooting skills for Ubuntu, CentOS, and RHEL.
• Good knowledge of Linux file systems, permissions, processes, and services.
• Ability to handle multiple user issues in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Eagerness to learn new tools, technologies, and best practices.
