Staff Software Engineer

About the role

As a Staff Software Engineer in the Infrastructure Engineering organization, you will lead the product strategy and technical execution of Crunchyroll's Internal Developer Portal (IDP). You will own full‑stack development, from scalable backend services to intuitive UI components, partnering with Engineering Operations and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the year‑over‑year technical strategy and product roadmap for the Internal Developer Portal.
• Architect, build, and maintain full‑stack features within the IDP using modern web technologies.
• Lead the design of developer‑centric UI workflows that simplify service creation, dependency mapping, and operational dashboarding.
• Implement measurement frameworks to track usage metrics and platform health, iterating based on data‑driven insights.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to drive adoption of platform standards across the organization.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, resolve operational issues, and reduce sources of toil.

Required profile

• 12+ years of professional experience in high‑scale production environments.
• Full‑stack expertise in TypeScript and backend languages such as Go or Python.
• Deep knowledge of authentication/authorization frameworks (OIDC, RBAC) and security protocols.
• Proven ability to establish operational best practices and mentor engineering teams.
• Strong product‑mindset to translate ambiguous requirements into executable technical roadmaps.
