Staff Software Engineer (Backend) – Immediate Joiners

About the role

Circles is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build and maintain core platform services for its global telco SaaS solutions. The role involves delivering new features, enhancing existing functionality and ensuring high availability of cloud‑based services in a fast‑moving environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new backend features and improve existing ones across multiple products.
• Build reusable libraries and technology platforms that serve various use cases.
• Own end‑to‑end service delivery, meeting timelines and quality standards.
• Establish and promote best practices for software development within the team.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, marketing and other non‑technical stakeholders.
• Mentor and guide engineers, removing roadblocks and fostering technical growth.
• Manage cloud‑based services, ensuring functional correctness, availability, security and scalability.
• Deploy, maintain and operate enterprise‑grade RESTful web services.
• Drive engineering excellence, operational readiness and SLO/SLI/SLA compliance.
• Lead quality initiatives through integration and unit testing, and own microservice reliability.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in engineering leadership.
• Strong design and architectural expertise for highly scalable and highly available systems.
• Proficiency with server‑side frameworks such as Spring Boot (Java), Node.js or Go.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently, multitask and solve complex problems.
• Metric‑driven mindset with a focus on clean coding practices.
