Staff Nurse – Outpatients (Band 5)

About the role

We are seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Outpatient Department at Borders General Hospital. The role involves delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care across a range of specialties within a supportive clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective nursing care in an outpatient setting, adhering to the NMC Code.
• Assess, treat and discharge patients across multiple specialties.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support new business and improve patient pathways.
• Contribute to a positive patient experience through compassionate communication.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (Band 5) with current NMC registration.
• Experience in outpatient or similar clinical settings.
• Flexible, resourceful and able to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
