Staff Engineer – Mobile, Desktop & Kotlin Multiplatform

About the role

Sarvam builds native consumer and enterprise AI products that run on Android phones, iPhones, Windows laptops, Linux desktops and Macs. We are hiring a Staff Engineer to own the client application layer across mobile and desktop, using Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) as the unifying technology. This is an individual contributor role responsible for architecture, patterns and quality across five platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end architecture of mobile and desktop apps built on a shared KMP core, using Compose Multiplatform and Jetpack Compose for UI.
• Lead KMP adoption strategy, defining expect/actual boundaries and building shared modules for networking, persistence, audio pipelines and model clients.
• Integrate Sarvam’s model APIs (ASR, TTS, translation, LLM, vision) with streaming, partial results and graceful degradation.
• Drive performance and reliability on low‑RAM devices, intermittent networks, and multi‑language audio pipelines.
• Set engineering standards for CI/CD, automated testing on real devices, code review culture and documentation.

Required profile

• 9+ years building production mobile and/or desktop applications with strong ownership of shipped features.
• Deep Kotlin expertise (coroutines, flows, modern Android architecture) and comfort with Swift on iOS and at least one desktop platform.
• Hands‑on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform in a shipped product, managing expect/actual boundaries.
• Strong command of native audio and streaming pipelines, including VAD, compression and low‑latency streaming.
