Staff Engineer – L4 (Enterprise Storage & AI)

About the role

DDN is looking for a Staff Engineer (L4) to serve as the escalation point for the most complex issues in enterprise and hyperscale AI storage environments. The role sits within the Infinia Core engineering team and works closely with product, engineering, and field groups to improve product resiliency and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end critical customer escalations, perform deep root‑cause analysis and drive mitigation.
• Lead war rooms, live incident bridges and cross‑functional response efforts with engineering, QA and field teams.
• Develop and maintain runbooks, performance‑tuning guides and RCA documentation.
• Partner with Field CTOs, Solutions Architects and Sales Engineers to translate technical issues into executive‑ready summaries.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in enterprise storage, distributed systems or cloud infrastructure support.
• Strong debugging skills at system, protocol and application levels (e.g., strace, tcpdump, perf).
• Excellent communication and executive reporting abilities.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation for after‑hours support.

Required skills

• Python, Go, C++ and Bash scripting.
• Linux kernel internals, file systems (S3, POSIX, NFS) and storage performance tuning.
• Experience with RDMA, NVMe‑oF and high‑performance networking stacks.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK and OpenTelemetry.
• Use of AI‑powered debugging tools, log‑pattern analysis and LLM‑based summarisation for RCA automation.
