Staff Engineer, Embedded Software (Senior Firmware Engineer)

About the role

Vistance Networks is looking for a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to join its cable access engineering team in Bangalore. You will work closely with US‑based system architects, software and hardware groups to develop firmware for next‑generation full‑duplex cable amplifiers and smart RF nodes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop low‑level firmware on Broadcom cable SoCs using Broadcom SDKs to initialise and monitor RF processing hardware.
• Implement embedded control loops for AGC, ALC, tilt adjustment, power management and echo cancellation.
• Write Linux kernel drivers, character devices and user‑space daemons that interact with hardware registers via I2C, SPI, UART and GPIO.
• Design telemetry and remote‑management agents using gNMI, Protobuf, JSON and MQTT for real‑time health monitoring.
• Participate in joint design and code reviews with US teams and perform hardware bring‑up on evaluation and production boards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5+ years of hands‑on embedded software/firmware development in C/C++.
• Strong experience with Embedded Linux, kernel driver development and peripheral bus protocols (I2C, SPI, UART).
• Proven ability to collaborate with distributed US engineering teams and communicate effectively in English.
