Staff Engineer, BSS Solution Design

About the role

Skylo is looking for a Senior Engineer to lead design and architecture of Business Support System (BSS) solutions for its commercial non‑terrestrial network (NTN) services. The role translates complex product and business requirements into scalable, integration‑ready BSS architectures and works closely with MNO partners, internal engineering and commercial teams. Based in Bangalore, the position requires onsite presence at least three days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end BSS solution design for new NTN products, services, and partner integrations, from requirements through high‑level and detailed design.
• Define solution blueprints covering product catalogue, order management, mediation, rating, charging, invoicing, CRM, and partner settlement.
• Evaluate and select BSS platforms (Amdocs, Ericsson, Nokia, Comviva, Oracle BRM, etc.) against Skylo’s use cases.
• Apply TM Forum frameworks (eTOM, SID, TAM, Open APIs) to ensure interoperability and standards compliance.
• Design integration architectures between BSS components and OSS, NMS, ERP, CRM, payment gateways, and MNO partner systems.
• Define and govern BSS APIs using TM Forum Open API standards and RESTful/event‑driven patterns.
• Lead CDR/EDR mediation design and data‑flow architecture to capture usage from the NTN vRAN.
• Oversee solution delivery across design, build, system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on BSS domain challenges.

Required profile

• 8‑12 years of telecom BSS experience with at least 3‑4 years in solution design or architecture.
• Hands‑on experience with BSS platforms such as Amdocs, Ericsson BSCS/CRM, Nokia/Netcracker, Comviva, Oracle BRM, or equivalents.
• Strong understanding of TM Forum frameworks: eTOM, SID, TAM and Open APIs (TMF620, TMF622, TMF632, TMF641).
• Solid knowledge of CDR/EDR processing, mediation pipelines, real‑time and offline charging (OCS/OFCS), and revenue assurance.
• Experience designing APIs and micro‑service integrations using RESTful and event‑driven (Kafka, messaging) architectures.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Go, Python) sufficient to review implementations.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modelling for BSS domains.
• Familiarity with roaming, interconnect and wholesale settlement processes.
