Staff Data Engineer – Data & AI Platform

About the role

Levi Strauss & Co. is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join its Data & AI Platform Engineering team in Bangalore. You will design and build the core backend systems that power enterprise‑wide analytics and AI‑driven data assistants, enabling smarter decisions across product design, supply chain and retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate scalable, highly‑available backend services for analytics and AI‑powered assistants.
• Architect and implement large‑scale data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data warehouses on Google Cloud Platform.
• Build and integrate agentic AI systems using Large Language Models and MLOps practices.
• Create semantic search and vector‑based retrieval capabilities to surface insights from data warehouses and dashboards.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of innovation and excellence.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 9+ years of experience as a Data Engineer delivering large‑scale data solutions.
• Proven track record building distributed backend systems in a cloud environment, preferably GCP.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, data architecture and modern data pipelines.
