Specialist Pharmacist - Clinical Trials & Research

About the role

The NHS Golden Jubilee Pharmacy Service is seeking a Specialist Pharmacist to lead clinical‑trial and research pharmacy activities. This permanent, 21.6‑hour per week position will support both commercial and non‑commercial studies, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant use of investigational medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pharmaceutical expertise for all clinical trials conducted within the Trust.
• Ensure trial medicines are managed in line with local, national, and international regulations.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and processes for clinical trial and unlicensed medicines.
• Foster collaborative relationships with the University of Strathclyde and other research partners.
• Identify and support pharmacy‑led research initiatives and mentor colleagues in research methodology.
• Promote a sustainable research culture within the Pharmacy Service.

Required profile

• Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Demonstrated experience in medicines management, preferably within a research or clinical‑trial environment.
• Strong clinical governance knowledge and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of clinical trial medication handling and regulatory compliance.
• Experience writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ability to develop and maintain research collaborations.
