Specialist - Commercial Controller (Retail Focus)

About the role

The Specialist – Commercial Controller (Retail Focus) will join METRO Global Solution Center India to own and analyse the profit & loss of multiple retail departments. The role combines deep financial analysis, budgeting, reporting and cross‑functional collaboration to support commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Full responsibility for departmental P&L analysis across ~50 departments, including weekly and monthly KPI reviews on margin, supplier income, pricing effects, NWC, stock days and payment terms.
• Perform in‑depth analyses across supplier, buying category, channel and customer‑group dimensions to ensure margin accuracy and compliance with Romanian accounting standards.
• Lead budget planning and execution for the Offer Management department and prepare business cases for buying decisions.
• Prepare and present reports for weekly sales meetings and monthly board reviews, providing commentary and insights for category managers.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting to local authorities, delegating language‑dependent tasks when needed.
• Work confidently with SAP, advanced Excel and VBA, handling complex data structures and performing advanced financial analyses.
• Collaborate closely with Commercial, Operations and IT teams, participating in transition discussions and retrospectives.

Required profile

• University degree in Finance, Accounting or Controlling.
• Proven experience in budget cycles and controlling, preferably in retail or stock‑management environments.
• Previous exposure to Romanian accounting systems and post‑LUCA implementation environments is a plus.
