Solution Architect – Life Sciences

About the role

The Architecture team for Life Sciences is looking for a Solution Architect to own the technology strategy behind Reaxys, the flagship chemistry research and data platform. You will shape the roadmap for Chemistry Solutions, collaborate with cross‑functional technical teams, and stay at the forefront of emerging technologies such as generative AI, large language models, knowledge graphs and cloud‑native data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Define, document and evolve the Chemistry Domain architecture and technology roadmap for Reaxys and related solutions, aligned with business goals and enterprise standards.
• Partner with the Lead Architect and other domain architects to provide consultancy, leadership and clear communication, championing best‑practice software engineering and architecture.
• Guide the responsible application of generative AI, large language models, machine learning and knowledge‑graph technologies to chemistry data, search and discovery use cases.
• Provide design and architecture governance by reviewing changes, development projects and technical evaluations to ensure scalability, security, maintainability and cost‑effectiveness.
• Monitor domain health, track operational metrics and propose actions to address technical debt, risks and emerging needs.
• Research industry and technology advancements to identify opportunities for new chemistry solutions.
• Develop and embed robust information‑security and data‑governance practices to respond quickly to enterprise security issues.
• Lead cross‑functional troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and resolve complex technical problems.

Required profile

• Proven experience defining and evolving technology strategies for large data platforms.
• Strong ability to collaborate with lead architects and domain teams and to communicate architectural decisions.
• Experience guiding AI/ML initiatives, including generative AI and large language models, within a scientific data context.
• Solid understanding of security, compliance and data‑governance practices.
• Leadership skills for driving cross‑functional troubleshooting and innovation.
