Software Engineer (Java + Python)

About the role

The HERE NDS Technologies team is seeking a Java and Python Engineer to develop a high‑definition live map product for self‑driving cars. You will participate in the full software development lifecycle, from vision and requirements to design, coding, testing, release, and support, collaborating with globally distributed teammates.

Key responsibilities

• Refine product vision and gather requirements from internal and external customers.
• Design, implement, test, and release backend components using Java 1.8+ and Python.
• Own one or more software architecture components and ensure their reliability.
• Participate in an agile team: code reviews, knowledge sharing, and proactive communication.
• Improve engineering best practices, including agile processes, coding standards, and verification.
• Implement complex cross‑subsystem designs and support incident resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of backend development experience with Java (1.8+) and Python.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and detail‑orientation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a globally distributed team.
• Commitment to high code quality, testing, and performance optimization.
