Software Engineer – Java Backend API

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer specialized in Java backend development to join CGI’s Hyderabad delivery centre. You will design, build and maintain high‑performance APIs that support a leading U.S. financial institution, working within an Agile, cloud‑native environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain backend services using Java (8/11/17) and Spring Boot.
• Create, consume and document RESTful APIs for enterprise applications.
• Build scalable micro‑services and integrate them with external systems and databases.
• Write clean, reusable code and follow best‑practice coding standards.
• Collaborate with front‑end developers, QA engineers and product owners to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging sessions and performance tuning.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Azure DevOps).
• Support cloud‑native deployments together with DevOps teams.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups and retrospectives.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Strong knowledge of Java 8/11/17 and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA).
• Hands‑on experience with RESTful API design and micro‑services architecture.
• Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Experience using CI/CD tools and version control (Git, Maven/Gradle).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and good problem‑solving skills.
